Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives a linear increase in any stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain a level gauge for each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the stats of your weapon and armor. The number of upgrade components needed for a specific item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases with the upgrade level and rarity, however it can be reduced through a variety of ways, such as purchasing upgrades at a merchant or trading them with other players.

Glyphs

This is not the actual amount at the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you are in awe of it.
Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can remove the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph the shards that are part of that glyph will disappear. You can also add the glyph to your equipment to add a bonus. Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, but they are still eligible to receive upgrades. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is by the rarity of the item as well as its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable to recycle than those with lower levels.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. upgrade item will determine the percentage chance of a weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. This is evident on Rings and Diadems as they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
The reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it using money or food items that would allow players to alter their builds without spending too much time and energy. The developers do not plan to offer paid rerolls in this stage of the game's development. They plan to add an ingredient that allows players to change their race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to level up an upgrade to an item. The first way to level up an item upgrade is to increase the upgrade amount. This boosts the value of an upgrade for a stat.
